Hundreds of drivers were stuck in standstill traffic on Interstate 10 Friday morning after a police pursuit that started in Phoenix ended on the freeway in Tucson.
Roadways in the vicinity of Cortaro Road and I-10 were shut down for hours as the fleeing suspect barricaded himself in his vehicle for an extended period, several responding departments said.
Phoenix police said they responded to a shooting around 1:40 a.m. Friday and located two adult victims suffering from non life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Later Friday morning, Phoenix officers located a vehicle they believed belonged to the shooting suspect. The vehicle headed south on I-10 where Phoenix police turned the chase over to the Department of Public Safety.
The vehicle was eventually stopped by DPS and the suspect barricaded himself inside, causing traffic to come to a complete stop.

The freeway opened up just before 8 a.m., according to Marana police.
Phoenix police said the suspect was taken into custody by DPS without incident.
