Kukai Japanese Kitchen will open in central Tucson in a redesigned space formerly occupied by Dante’s.
Kukai’s offerings include fried pancake balls with octopus and fried squid legs.
The restaurant will be located at 2526 E. Grant Road, just east of Tucson Boulevard.
The local landlord, Larsen Baker, owns and redeveloped the neighboring project on the west which includes Postino’s and Snooze.
Dante’s, formerly known as Dante’s Fire, closed in July after 13 years in business.
Larsen Baker will redevelop and modernize the building.
Construction is expected to begin in the next few weeks and details of an opening date are pending.
