A convicted sex offender was arrested after he ordered 13 videotapes depicting graphic sexual abuse of children, officials said Wednesday.
William Paul Rigli, 40, was arrested Jan. 8 on suspicion of receipt of child pornography, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice in Arizona.
Rigli, a level 2 sex offender, had been communicating with undercover U.S. Postal inspectors and expressed an interest in videos of minors engaging in sexual activity, according to the news release.
He ordered and paid for 13 videos, but when he went to pick them up at a post office in Sahuarita he was arrested, the release said.
Rigli was required to register as a sex offender in 1991 after he was convicted in Pima County of various counts that included furnishing obscene/harmful materials to minors, attempted sexual conduct with a person under 15 and public sexual indecency, the release said.

The victims were two boys ages 10 and 13.
At that time he was sentenced to 10 years' probation, but that was revoked in 1999 after he violated his probation by having contact with minors and possessing sexually stimulating material, the release said.
He was then sentenced to 10 years in prison but was released in 2005.
If Rigli is convicted under the current charge, he is facing anywhere from 15 to 40 years in prison, a $2 million fine, or both.
