Jazz pianist Jeffrey Haskell will bring his innovative and inspiring music to the Arizona Senior Academy on Tuesday for a free performance.
Open to the public, the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Academy's Great Room adjacent to the Academy Village Community Center.
Haskell is an accomplished musician with an international reputation. He's well-known in the Tucson community as a conductor, arranger and educator, as well as performer.
As a member of the faculty of the University of Arizona School of Music, Haskell teaches classes in jazz improvisation, arranging and recording studio production. He also serves as coordinator of jazz studies and director of the UA recording studio.
His musical background is diverse. From 1965 to 1975 he conducted the Tucson Boys Chorus and later co-founded and served as director of the Tucson Jazz Orchestra. He won three Emmy Awards for an acclaimed children's TV program and received an Emmy nomination for the theme and underscore for ABC's "IT Show."

Haskell maintains a long-term relationship with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra as a conductor, orchestrator/arranger, and even vocalist. His "Concerto for Jazz Band and Orchestra" debuted with the TSO in 1987.
Haskell also has a musical association with singer Linda Ronstadt, having arranged and conducted for her. Recently he arranged music for a Ronstadt Christmas album.
Academy Village is an active-adult community located off Old Spanish Trail six miles southeast of Saguaro National Park East.
