Jumping for joy and for health, kids gathered Friday at Tanque Verde Elementary School, 2600 N. Fennimore Ave., for a Tucson Twist-Its jump rope workshop.
The competitive jump rope team travels to schools and gives demonstrations at University of Arizona sporting events, and even Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks games, to promote the sport, the group and the health benefits of jump roping.
The 14 members of the team also are ambassadors for the American Heart Association, manager Heather Burggaller said. The workshops, she said, "are for kids who want to get jumping or to learn new tricks."
While the team practices three times a week, workshops are held less frequently.
"We try to do workshops every couple of months," she said.
