Soar With the Eagles provides dedicated tutors who focus on each individual’s capabilities and willingness to learn. The personalized nature of our program gives us the ability to discover the supports and barriers to passing the specific GED areas and to focus on those areas for remediation and preparation for the assessment.
Through our willingness to find locations that are accessible and convenient for the individual, and in our understanding of the daily challenges our students face, we are able to establish a trusting and strong connection. This connection, when combined with a one-on-one, goal-setting curriculum, allows each person to reach his/her greatest potential.
Graduate Vondi Grijalva describes her Soar With the Eagles tutor as “extraordinary” and has used her GED certificate to advance within her chosen career field. She aspires to get a college degree, a goal unattainable without a GED or high school diploma. “Education,” she insists, “is power.”

Soar With the Eagles firmly believes that everyone who wants to better him/herself should have the opportunity to do so. That’s why we also open up the possibility for those who have gone through our program, worked hard and passed their GED to come back and become a tutor. These GED graduates are paid an hourly wage, whereas all other tutors participate in our program are highly dedicated volunteers.
We have seen strong bonds develop between tutors and students that are extremely motivating and empowering. This arrangement develops self-assurance and pride within our students and generates confidence in a successful outcome of the tutoring process.
