The westbound Interstate 10 entrance ramp is open at Miracle Mile for the first time in nearly two years.
Until now, all entrance and exit ramps had been closed between Prince Road and 29th Street as part of the massive I-10 widening project in Tucson.
When did the westbound entrance ramp open at Miracle Mile?
The ramp was opened quietly, with no announcement or fanfare, last week after crews finished paving and striping the westbound lanes on I-10.
Why did it open?
Construction crews have been working ahead of schedule and looking for ways to make driving in the work zone easier. When they had the opportunity to open this ramp, they took it.
Will other ramps open before the project is finished in December?

Yes. The westbound entrance ramps at Speedway and Grant Road are expected to open sometime in the next six weeks, depending on the pace of work.
Why won't any exit ramps or eastbound ramps open early?
The timing is based on when all the work in an area is complete. All other ramps in the construction zone will be closed until the additional lanes are built, paved and ready to be opened safely. Everything has to be done, including the merging areas on the frontage roads.
