Chamber to hold annual meeting and luncheon
The Marana Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting and appreciation luncheon at 11:15 a.m. Aug. 21 at The Oasis at Wild Horse Ranch, 6801 N. Camino Verde.
Chamber CEO Ed Stolmaker will present the organization's 2008 business plan and recognize members who've been part of the chamber for 10 years or more.
It costs $17 per person to attend the event. Reservations are required and must be made by Monday by calling 682-4314 or sending an e-mail to info@maranachamber.com.
Heritage Park tabbed national-award finalist
Marana's Heritage Park has been named a finalist for the National League of Cities' 2008 Awards for Municipal Excellence.

The 300-acre park, which is still under construction, is one of 57 finalists for the award. It's located along the Santa Cruz River near the intersection of West Tangerine Farms Road and North Gladden Farms Drive.
Winners will be announced during the National League of Cities' Congress of Cities and Exposition, which will be Nov. 11-15 in Orlando, Fla.

Free child-car-seat inspections available
The Northwest Fire/Rescue District is offering free car-seat inspections for area residents.
The inspections, which take 20-30 minutes, will check to see if a seat is in good working order, if it's compatible with your vehicle and if it is appropriate for the size of your child.
The inspections are by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling 887-1010, Ext. 5006.
Oro Valley
Arts Council appoints 3 new members to board
The Greater Oro Valley Arts Council has appointed Dale Henson, Melanie Larson and Gail Munden to its board of directors for the 2008-09 fiscal year.
The new appointments will increase the council's board of directors to 11 active members.
The council also appointed board member Julio Galindo as the board's treasurer, while Satish Hiremath, Al Cook and Ed Ortelli retained their positions as president, vice president and secretary, respectively.
