I know it’s unusual for an Abyssinian cat to write letters to the editor, but these are unusual times. My previous letter (Cat’s Eye View, 9/15/24) addressed the hiss-teria over “childless cat ladies” and “immigrants eating pets.” This time I’m pouncing on James Carville’s op-ed in The New York Times recommending that Democrats “roll over and play dead.” While I appreciate the value of stealth in the hunt, I pre-fur howling loudly when DOGE fires nuclear weapons workers, when forest fire fighters get axed entering wildfire season, when the Department of Agriculture fires bird flu experts as egg prices soar, and when a-paw-ling behavior emanates from the Oval Office. I say don’t go cat-atonic! Purr-suasion is crucial for driving public opinion against Musk, Trump and MAGA-mania. Call your legislators and let them know how you feel. I know from experience that caterwauling gets results.
