When Juan Ciscomani criticized the Homeland Security shutdown as "political," he dismissed 32 people who died in ICE detention last year and ICE's murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis with no subsequent accountability.
Ciscomani speaks of helping DACA Dreamers but does nothing to help Karla Toledo who is unjustly persecuted by ICE. Unlike Adelita Grijalva, he does not visit ICE detention centers where people are abused, as shown by the Haitian who died at Florence after being denied treatment for a dental infection.
Ciscomani will never oppose Trump because he is terrified of MAGAs realizing that, as a naturalized citizen, he is a poster boy for the Great Replacement Theory that immigrants replace more deserving white people in positions of power. Republican Nancy Mace's proposed legislation to ban naturalized citizens from government service shows elements of his own party want to evict him.
