Arizona Wildcats pitching coach Teresa Wilson announced her resignation today, three seasons after leaving her head coaching post at Texas Tech to join Mike Candrea’s staff.
Wilson is trying to pursue head coaching opportunities, a release from the University of Arizona says.
"I'm more than pleased to have been part of Arizona softball for three seasons, but I'd like to return to having my own program," Wilson said in a statement.
In the release, Candrea called Wilson “a great asset to our program,” saying that her “passion, knowledge of the game and work ethic have been second to none.”
The Wildcats’ coach said he wants to hire a replacement by the end of July.
Wilson was hired in September 2008, making $60,000 a year, to replace Gale Bundrick, who had served as interim pitching coach after the departure of former UA star Nancy Evans.

She had spent 21 years as a college head coach, at Oregon, Minnesota, Washington and Texas Tech.
At the UA, Wilson inherited a three-person pitching staff and coaxed the trio to the Women’s College World Series. She coached Canyon Del Oro High School alum Kenzie Fowler the past two years.
She and Fowler tried to change the sophomore’s pitching delivery this past season, hoping to eliminate illegal pitch violations and stress on her arm. But Fowler changed back to a delivery similar to her own motion mid-season.
