On the second Thursday of every month from 5 to 7 p.m., tonight included, the galleries on East Skyline Road near North Campbell Avenue stay open late for a festive Art Walk. The monthly party has been building a devoted following since it started about 18 months ago.
"It makes the gallery experience an event," says Diana Madaras, owner of the Madaras Gallery. "We have complimentary wine tasting and hor d'ouvres. It's a party atmosphere where people can come with friends and have a good time while looking at some really exciting art."
Tonight's Art Walk will also serve as a preview of the second annual Flower Power art auction March 14 at the Arizona Cancer Center Clinic. All of the galleries will donate a percentage of tonight's sales (from their regular inventory) to the fight against cancer.
In addition to the Madaras Gallery, which opened on Skyline Drive in November 2004, the participants are the Max Gallery, Mountain Shadow Gallery, Wilde Meyer Gallery, Details Art & Design Gallery and the Steinway Piano Gallery.
