Friday marks the start of two spectacularly spooky Halloween traditions in Tucson - one celebrating its 20th anniversary, the other moving to new ghoulish digs.
Old Tucson Studios' Nightfall opens for its 20th season on Friday. Throughout October, visitors to the park can take in live shows including the latest installment of Dr. Jebediah Hyde as he resumes his reign of terror over the inmates of Goulliard Asylum for the Perpetually Insane.
Other highlights:
• Mad Science Mission returns to show the funny side of doctoring gone terribly awry.
• Magician Aaron Radatz performs at Club Hyde.
• Walk-through haunted house that includes the haunted Death Row; the return of the hellacious Inferno; the ever-popular Iron Door Haunted Mine; and the Fear Train ride.

Tucson Screamers bring their fifth annual haunted house to its creepiest setting to date - the shuttered Farmer John's meatpacking plant on West Grant Road near Interstate 10.
It's a setting that provides for a built-in story line of murder and mayhem in The Slaughter House, where two children of the plant's owner go missing and end up . . . Oh, do we really need to spoil it?
This is year five for the trio who run Tucson Screamers - Bobby Sutton, John Benedict and Matt Gordon. They started out with Scream Street at Sportspark off Interstate 10 and West Ina Road. Two years later, they moved to Breakers Water Park for Nightmare. Last year they set up Phobia in the 30,000 square feet of the former Linens 'N Things at Foothills Mall.
Slaughter House will be spread over 40,000 square feet including space outside the plant, said Sutton. The haunted house opens Friday and runs Thursdays through Sundays through Oct. 31 from 7 p.m. to as late as midnight. Admission is $21 with discounts available.
On Oct. 16, the up-and-coming rapper B.o.B. will perform at the new venue, which will be open during October only. Tickets for that show are $35, which includes admission to the Slaughter House.
