We recently chatted with standup comedian Rita Rudner, who plays Desert Diamond Casino Sunday. She gave us some priceless insight into raising her 9-year-old daughter Molly.
About motherhood: "It's good, but it doesn't get easier. (Daughter Molly) is 9 years old and she knows everything. I know nothing already and she knows everything. Her first words were ‘Oh mom!' so I knew that I was in for it."
Tough love: "She's my favorite person ever. All I want to do is be with my little girl. But I'm tough. She's got to get good grades. Kids don't give you respect. You have to demand respect otherwise I might as well just get on the floor and let her bounce on my head. I was a nightmare and I was a good kid.
"They want what they want and they need it now. There is very little time between when they tell you they want something and when they want you to get it for them. Yesterday's lesson was delayed gratification. I gave her a piece of gum and I made her look at it for an hour."

Despite a schedule full of tennis, piano and guitar lessons, Molly is a member of the honor society. Good grades with that schedule? "Yea. I mean come on. This is childhood. It's not a picnic."
