In just the few weeks it has been open, Bear Canyon Pizza has already had to double its staff.
“By word of mouth, people are coming in,” said owner Devin Santos. “It’s been busy.”
The fast-casual eatery hasn’t had its grand opening yet, but already Santos is finding out folks on the northeast side love their pies. And pasta. And sandwiches.
“Everything is made fresh every day,” Santos said.
The restaurant, which has a large patio and features counter-ordering, is located at 8987 E. Tanque Verde Road in the Bear Canyon Shopping Center, two doors down from The Bloc. The menu features Italian classics like marinara pasta and chicken parm along with New York-style pizzas. Santos describes the crust as not thick, not thin but crispy on the bottom. You can order by the massive slice ($9.50) or opt for 14-inch or 16-inch pies (which start at $15.25 and $17.50). Opt for more traditional toppings or check out one combo that Santos says “everyone is going crazy for” — the Baja, which features green chiles, chorizo, black olives, fresh cilantro, mozzarella, Cheddar and a cilantro crema sauce.
