Food, wine fundraiser for Gabriel’s Angels
Gabriel’s Angels, Arizona’s only nonprofit offering pet therapy for at-risk children, will hold a fundraising event — Salud! 2015 — Friday, Sept. 25 in the courtyard at Plaza Colonial, on the Southwest corner of Skyline Drive and Campbell Avenue.
The event, which runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., features wine tasting along with food tastings from local restaurants including Tavolino Ristorante Italiano, Sullivan’s Steakhouse, El Charro, Shlomo and Vito’s, Beyond Bread, Blu a Wine & Cheese Stop, and Pastiche Modern Eatery, as well as tastings from Alfonso Gourmet Olive Oil and Balsamics. There will also be a raffle featuring gift cards and items from local merchants.

barbecue on Sept. 29
Famous Dave’s BBQ invites anyone named Dave to get a free two-meat combo at it’s Famous Dave’s Legendary Bar-B-Que restaurant, 4565 N. Oracle Road, on Tuesday, Sept 29.
The Daves deal is good for anyone with the first name David or Dave who can show a valid photo ID. No purchase is necessary, but the deal is good for dine-in only and cannot be combined with other offers.
In addition to two meat selections, the Classic Barbeque Combo includes two sides and a cornbread muffin for $16.49.

Beer festival on Oct. 17
helps Sun Sounds of AZ
The 29th annual Great Tucson Beer Festival is taking place Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Kino North Soccer Stadium, 2817 E. Ajo Way.
The event, organized by a very dedicated group of volunteers and presented by Desert Diamond Casino, runs from 6 to 10 p.m., with the last pour at 9:30 p.m. With the choice of more than 300 beers — national and international varieties along with craft beers from microbreweries and brewpubs—organizers feel confident there’s something for every beer lover.
The night’s entertainment includes Tucson favorite ’80s and Gentlemen, an Oktoberfest costume contest, a stationary steer roping game, horseshoes and a silent auction.

The beer festival is a critical fundraiser for the Tucson affiliate of Sun Sounds of Arizona, which turned 30 in February. Sun Sounds is a radio reading and audio information access service for people who find it difficult or impossible to read print because of a disability or medical condition. For eligible listeners, Sun Sounds of Arizona is available free of charge, 24 hours a day, seven days a week using special radios, designated cable systems, telephone and the Internet.
