Your kids can see Disney stars and dinosaurs at Tucson Kidsfest

The Tucson Convention Center will be hopping June 23 and 24 with ...

Dinosaurs.

Disney TV stars.

The TNT Dunk Squad

Carnival rides.

Inflatable castles.

And plenty more.

It’s Tucson Kidsfest, back for its second year.

Last year, more than 6,000 attended the two-day, have-all-the-fun-you-can event.

Just as many are expected this year, says Cynthia Dunne, a spokeswoman for Kidsfest, which is sponsored by Tucson Electric Power.

No doubt one of the biggest thrills for the younger set will be performances by the Disney stars.

Saturday, Karan Brar performs. He was the star of the “Wimpy Kid” movies, as well as the TV shows “Jessie” and its spinoff, “Bunk’d,” which can be seen on the Disney channel.

Sunday, Sofia Wylie, the star of Disney’s “Andi Mack,” takes the stage.

When the family isn’t stargazing, they can hang out with the dinosaurs, one of last year’s more popular exhibits, says Dunne.

“They create a fossil field for kids to dig up fossils and hunt for dinosaur eggs,” she says. “And there are oversized dinosaur characters. Kids will learn how to tame a dinosaur or keep them from escaping. It’s wonderland, and it’s educational.”

The TNT Dunk Squad was also a big hit last year, says Dunne.

The basketball dunkers fly, flip and summersault and never seem to miss a basket.

“They are insane, super high-energy,” says Dunne.

The indoor areas at the TCC (that means air conditioning; whew) will be packed with carnival rides that won’t intimidate kids (though they may adults), as well as face painting, video games, electric animal rides and the always-popular inflatable bounce houses.
