Memorial concert to be held for longtime punk singer
Tucson's hard-core punk community will gather at the Rialto Theatre Saturday to celebrate the life of one of its own.
Ric Evarian was best known for his work as the singer for American Deathtrip but had performed with a number of bands over the years, including Phoenix's Myndbent, Inoculara and Raw Power.
Saturday's memorial concert will feature performances from the Dead Chiefs, Wrong Idea and Feast Upon Cactus Thorns.
The evening comes with a $5 to $10 suggested donation. All proceeds from the door, as well as the raffle and merchandise sales, will go toward a memorial fund for Evarian's son, Miles.
The doors open at 6:30. Call 740-1000 for more information.

Molotov, Mexico's raucous and rowdy rock and hip-hop hybrid band, returns to Tucson for a gig Friday at the Rialto Theatre.
The band has been making the news lately, but not for any recording project.
The recent publicity stems from the group's announcement that they will drop the anti-gay slur "maricón" from its 1997 song "Puto" while on its latest American tour.
The group was already being pressured by various LGBT organizations to cease and desist on performing the song altogether.
They made the decision to nix the word from the song in response to the savage beating of a Chilean teenager in an alleged hate crime in July.
The teen, Esteban Navarro, lost his leg as a result of the attack.
The Molotov show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $32 in advance to $34 the day of the show through the box office, 740-1000.

los Tigres Del Norte to bring corridos to casino del sol
Playing to a sold-out crowd at the 5,000-seat AVA might seem a little low-key for members of Los Tigres del Norte.
The band, based out of San Jose, Calif., is used to playing for much larger crowds.
The Tigers recently performed for an audience of 50,000 in the Mexican city of San Luis PotosÃ.
Yet Los Tigres keep coming back.
The band has a gig scheduled for the AVA this Saturday with Voz de Mando.
The show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are $30 to $75 through tickets.solcasinos.com
Hip-hop star Kid cudi also playing the ava
Another major hip-hop star, Kid Cudi, is coming Sept. 5.
Cudi will perform at the AVA with Tyler the Creator and Logic.
