Apparently 1950s-60s rocker Chubby Checker had a really good time in Tucson when he played a gig last November at Fox Tucson Theatre.
Nearly a year to the day of that Nov. 12, 2015, show, he is back, this time at the larger Desert Diamond Casino Diamond Entertainment Center. The musician, best known as the voice and swiveling hips behind the biggest hit of all time “The Twist” — and its various take-offs including “Slow Twistin’ “ and “Let’s Twist Again” — is playing a show 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18.
Lest you think Chubby Checker — his real name is Ernest Evans — is a one-hit wonder, the 75-year-old singer has a string of post-“Twist” hits including “The Hucklebuck,” “Pony Time” and “Limbo Rock.” In a career spanning nearly 60 years, he has sold more than 250 million records.
Tickets are $20 to $35 through startickets.com or the Desert Diamond Box Office, 1100 W. Pima Mine Road, off Interstate 19.
