Mendelssohn and Mozart are on the bill when the Ives Quartet takes the stage at the Leo Rich Theatre Wednesday.
Not scheduled to be played: anything by composer Charles Ives, whose passion, artistic commitment and temperament inspired this quartet - so says their website.
No matter - gathering from reviews, these four could play just about anything they want.
"The Ives Quartet is an undeniably talented group of musicians," said The Buffalo News.
"The Ives' arresting sound was again on display: robust, rigorous and beautifully blended," crowed the San Jose Mercury News.
And this from The Stark Insider: "This music engages the brain and soul and leaves you in a very different place than when you walked in the room."
They are slated to perform Mozart's String Quartet in D Major, K. 499, "Hoffmeister"; String Quartet No. 3 by Quincy Porter; and String Quartet I E Minor, Op. 44, No. 2, by Mendelssohn.
