French classical guitarist Thomas Viloteau is getting a bird's-eye view of much of the United States.
For the past several months, he has been crisscrossing the country as part of his 2006 win at the Guitar Foundation of America solo competition. Among his prizes were a seven-month 50-plus-city North American tour of the States, Canada and Mexico, including a stop with the Tucson Guitar Society Saturday night at Holsclaw Hall.
The 22-year-old Paris-born guitarist has studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Barcelona, École Normale in Paris and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.
On Saturday, Viloteau will perform Alberto Ginastera's Sonata Op. 47; Alexander Tansman's "Cavatina"; Roland Dyens' "Triaela"; M. Castelnuovo-Tedesco's "Capriccio diabolico"; and Leo Brouwer's "Rito de los Orishas."
