Oktoberfest at Mount Lemmon Ski Valley
When: 11:45 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 12.
Where: Mount Lemmon Ski Valley, 10300 Ski Run Road.
Why you want to go: It’s become a tradition for Tucsonans of all ages to bring a blanket to sit on the ski slopes to enjoy German music by John Prokop and his band. Oktoberfest meals (brats, German potato salad and red cabbage) are served on the decks over looking the ski runs. What more alpine air? Catch a ride on the scenic chairlift. No pets please.
Cost: Parking is $5. Meals range from $10-$14.

Marana Oktoberfest
at Breakers

Why you want to go: Traditional Bavarian foods including brats, smoked sausage, roast chicken in German beer as well American faves like hamburgers, hot dogs and pizza. Paulaner is providing a selection of Oktoberfest brews. There’s also traditional Bavarian music, in addition to contemporary and Hispanic musical performances. Games include the Great SteinRace, where contestants race with full steins of beer to see who can win without spilling a drop. Bring your Dachshunds to compete for the title of “Official Pet of Oktoberfest,” which benefits the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. The slides and kiddie pool will also be open.
Cost: $5 admission on Friday and Sunday; $7 Saturday ($5 for children 12 and under).

German-American Club of Tucson Oktoberfest
When: 5-10 p.m. Sept. 27.
Where: Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, 3445 N. Dodge Blvd.
Why you want to go: It’s a good old-fashioned get-together at a neighborhood hangout with music by Ken Novak and dinner, by reservation. Reserve by Sept. 21 for a $7 plate of bratwurst, sauerkraut, potato salad and a roll, with coffee and cake, add another brat for a dollar more. Dinner from 5:30-6:30 p.m., music starts at 6:30 p.m. Call 546-6663 for dinner reservation.
Cost: $8 admission; food and beer for purchase.
Oktoberfest
at Trail Dust Town
When: 5-10 p.m. Oct. 3.
Where: Trail Dust Town, 6541 E. Tanque Verde Road.
Why you want to go: The Old West-themed enclave is hosting its second annual Oktoberfest event with beer from local breweries that include Borderlands, Nimbus and 1055, live entertainment from The Bouncing Czechs, games and other activities.
Cost: Free admission. $12 wristband includes six tastings in the beer garden, unlimited rides and stunt-show access. Pinnacle Peak-inspired German food is additional.

Bouncing Czechs: German/Polish Oktoberfest
When: 6 p.m. Oct. 9.
Where: Oro Valley Marketplace, 12155 N. Oracle Road, Oro Valley.
Why you want to go: This time of year, you just can’t get enough of The Bouncing Czechs Band, which was formed 14 years ago by members of the Tucson Czech-Slovak Club. What are you waiting for? Get dancing!
Cost: Free.
Bavarian Brass Band
in Green ValleY
When: 5 p.m. Oct. 18.
Where: Community Performing Arts Center, 1250 W. Continental Road, Green Valley.
Why you want to go: When was the last time you heard some good yodeling? Probably about a year ago, at least. The Bavarian Brass Band has you covered with the yodeling talents of Tamara Kahrimanis at this outdoor fest. Tickets include two drink tickets, and Mama’s German Barbeque (for the day) with brats, schnitzel with gravy and German potato salad.
Cost: $25 in advance; $30 at the door. Table pricing available.
