Class on healing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu
An introduction to Jin Shin Jyutsu self-help will be offered as an adult education class. The class will be led by Cynthia Wheeler, a Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner for 35 years. She will lead an experiential class in which participants are shown ways to use Jin Shin to reduce worry, fear, sadness and pretense. People use their own hands to promote healing, stress release, a clearer mind and deeper relaxation.
The class will be held at St. Francis in the Foothills Church, 4625 E. River Road, from 10:30 a.m.-noon on March 3. Free. 299-9063.
Interfaith gathering’s theme is gratitude
Seven northwest Tucson congregations are sponsoring an interfaith celebration of unity and prayer. The event is free to people of all faiths and ages.

Leaders of St. Odilia Catholic Community; Third Church of Christ, Scientist; the Tucson North Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Casas Adobes Congregational United Church of Christ; the Muslim Community Center of Tucson; and Congregation Or Chadash and the Baha’i Faith of Oro Valley (participating for the first time this year) decided to focus this year’s event on gratitude.
This year’s celebration is titled “Gratitude Summit in the Desert: Becoming One in Faith and Gratitude.”
The idea for this annual event was sparked when faith leaders from different congregations began meeting together a few years ago at the invitation of Father Miguel Mariano of the St. Odilia Catholic Community.
Attendees are asked to bring donations of spaghetti sauce (in cans, not in jars) or packages of spaghetti noodles for the Interfaith Community Services Food Bank.
The gathering will be held March 7 at the Muslim Community Center of Tucson, 5100 N. Kevy Place. Seating will be from 6-6:45 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Free. 520-405-6039.
Ancient songs go with pizza
Journey through a faith’s ancient songbook with Vicar David Carlisle and Sheldon Curry, director of music. Various types of pizza and beverages provided. Childlike people of all ages are welcome.
