“Building Better Joints” is the title of a lecture at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, sponsored by the University of Arizona Arthritis Center.
The talk, by UA Arthritis Center senior scientist John Szivek, will focus on recent advances in cartilage regeneration. He specializes in bone and cartilage regeneration with the goal of repairing damaged joints.
The event, which is free, will be held in DuVal Auditorium at Banner-University Medical Center Tucson, 1501 N. Campbell Ave.
Advance registration for the lecture is required but it is not necessary to bring a printed ticket to the lecture. To register online go to arthritis.arizona.edu/healthy-living/tucson-lecture-series.
Until now, damaged joints were often replaced with metal and plastic parts, which can break down over time and limit range of motion. Szivek will discuss specific advances in cartilage regeneration strategies.
