A woman found slain in her Northwest Side home early Sunday was likely killed by her boyfriend who turned the gun on himself, an official said Monday.
Ashley Nicole Fimbrez, 23, was found dead, apparently shot to death, in an upstairs bedroom of a home in the 1000 block of West Sea Star Drive, near West River and North Oracle roads, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman.
“We believe her boyfriend may have killed her before turning the gun on himself,” she said.
Deputies responded to the home about 4:45 a.m. after receiving a call from within the house about an unknown problem, Barkman said.
Deputies were at the front door, speaking with people inside when gunfire erupted, Barkman said. The deputies forced their way in and found Fimbrez dead, she said. Her wounded boyfriend was found in the same room.

Witnesses told deputies that the couple was upstairs while a party was going on downstairs, Barkman said.
Fimbrez’s MySpace page says she attended Sunnyside High School and had a daughter. Barkman said there were no children in the home at the time.
The boyfriend remained in the hospital Monday morning, Barkman said.
