Tucson police officers targeted in drive-by shooting

Neither officer was struck and two men have been arrested in connection with the case, Tucson police said in a news release Monday.

The officers were in a marked vehicle in the area of East Broadway and North Park Avenue when shots were fired from a passing car, the release said.

The officers tried to stop the vehicle, which fled into the downtown area. Two men, Fabian Nunley, 23, and Earl Young Jr., 33, were taken into custody without further incident, according to police. 

Nunley is facing two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon, drive-by shooting and unlawful flight from pursuing law enforcement vehicle. Young faces two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and drive-by shooting. 

They were booked into Pima County jail. 

The Tucson Police Officer's Association said on Facebook regarding the incident: "We are proud of the excellent efforts that the officers made to stop the suspects and that there were no injuries."
