A serial bank robbery suspect was arrested on May 21 through a multi-agency collaborative effort, Tucson police say.
Gene Garland, 41, faces four counts of robbery, according to a news release from Tucson police.
On April 28, Garland is suspected of having entered a Wells Fargo bank at 3275 N. Swan Road, where he allegedly handed a teller a note demanding money. He was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled before police came.
Six days later, he returned to and robbed the same bank, police said.
On May 7, Garland is accused of having robbed a US Bank location at 1940 E. Broadway Boulevard. Then on May 13, he allegedly robbed the Bank of the West at 7225 N. Oracle Road in Oro Valley, during which witnesses saw him run to a vehicle.
Witness provided descriptions to investigators, police said.Â

Then on May 21, FBI agents conducted surveillance and found a vehicle similar to the one described by witnesses in the Bank of the West parking lot. Agents followed the car to the Wells Fargo bank on North Swan Road.
Tucson police officers stopped the driver of the car, who was later identified as Garland. He matched the descriptions given to investigators.Â
Tucson and Oro Valley detectives and FBI agents searched his home and car, where items of evidentiary value were located.
Garland was booked into Pima County Jail.Â
