As I've written on this blog before, former Graham County Sheriff Richard Mack has experienced a renewed popularity thanks to the current surge in anti-federal-government opinion.
In fact, I've found catching Mack in Arizona has become quite a task, but he and I have an appointment now.
I'm interested to hear from people who've followed Mack and support his ideas. For example, he told me several months ago that he thinks "the sheriff has the duty and responsibility to protect people from corrupt governmentt and that he is the ultimate protector." (I assume he's elaborated on this argument in the recent short book "The County Sheriff: America's Last Hope," which I've ordered now.)

Mack is probably most famous for challenging federal gun regulations in the 1990s and convincing the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn part of the law. Now he's a hero of the Oath Keepers, the self proclaimed "Guardians of the Republic."
To his critics, Mack is an enabler of whackos, using the sheriff's title that he lost in a 1996 election to spread dubious ideas among dangerous radicals. I'm interested in hearing from those of you who share this point of view too.
Till then, you'll find me buried in America's Last Hope and some other Mack titles, such as From My Cold Dead Fingers: Why America Needs Guns and The Proper Role of Law Enforcement. (But I'll probably skip The Naked Spy, Mack's thriller.)Â
