The Arizona Senior Academy's "Concert Under the Stars" series will feature award-winning singer and songwriter Robyn Landis at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The concert will be held on the patio adjacent to the Community Center at Academy Village, an active-adult community off Old Spanish Trail six miles southeast of Saguaro National Park East.
A gifted wordsmith, Landis has garnered a reputation among fellow songwriters for her unflinching honesty, intensity and intelligence.
She recently moved from Seattle to Tucson. When she came here for the 2005 Tucson Folk Festival, she fell in love with the weather, the desert and the city.
"It just felt like home to me," she said.
Landis uses song to tackle subjects ranging from war to weather to (what else?) love - not to mention adoption, dementia, betrayal, longing, friendship, child abuse, old sitcoms and the environment.

Since 2005 and the release of her first CD, "Love and Other Words," Landis has accrued nearly 50 songwriting awards and honors.
She was the 2009 Grand Prize winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and previously took first-place honors in the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival and the International Narrative Song Competition.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors in the great room of the Arizona Senior Academy building.
