A woman who was flown to a Phoenix burn center after sustaining severe burns had doused herself with gasoline and ignited herself, an official said Monday.
It was not clear why the woman — who had just been released from jail — set herself on fire, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.
On Saturday night, the Sheriff's Department was called to the mobile home near East Benson Highway and East Valencia Road for a domestic dispute, Barkman said.
Ana Claudia Vaca, 33, was taken to jail on an unrelated warrant but was released Sunday, Barkman said.
After she got home, she doused herself with gasoline and lighted herself on fire. Vaca's boyfriend just arrived home as the incident unfolded, and he, too, was injured as he tried to put her out, Barkman said.

Vaca suffered third-degree burns and was flown to the Arizona Burn Center at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix. Her boyfriend was treated for his injuries locally.
Two neighbors also were injured while helping the couple out of their home and working to put out the fire before firefighters arrived. Both suffered from smoke inhalation. The trailer was destroyed.
