The missing link has returned.
After disappearing for a week, a life-size cardboard cutout of the Geico caveman is back home.
The caveman was snatched late last month from the Student Recreation Center at the University of Arizona and then carried to a waiting getaway car, said Geico spokeswoman Jody Liller.
But this weekend someone returned the caveman, unscathed, to the insurance company's office at 2000 E. Speedway, Liller said.
He's now back at the rec center, she said, in a high-security area — behind the front desk.
Geico office manager Thomas Whaples said a young man brought the cutout caveman into his office, said his roommate had taken it and that he was tired of looking at it.
Geico donated the caveman — a popular advertising character for the company — to the center to promote a look-alike contest open to UA students, employees and campus recreation members, Liller said.
