Susan Meyer set out her watercolors, paintbrushes and canvas on the table at Desert Artisans' Gallery before demonstrating to guests how she crafts her artwork.
"This is my first time doing demonstrations here," Meyer said Saturday. Meyer has done demonstrations at Big Brothers and Big Sisters and at a church. She also used to teach watercolor classes.
Her love and passion run deep. "I became really interested in watercolor painting when my first child dipped her fingers in watercolor," she said.
She has focused on watercolors for 31 years, she said, as she stroked her brush through the rainbow of colors onto the canvas.
"When I paint, I always look at it and think about the colors, then think, 'Hmm, what about this?' and I will go back and mess with it," said Meyer. "If I had to say, I have done at least 500 pieces."

Of all the colors, Meyer admitted her favorite is green. "I like green but I try to use all the colors when I paint," she said. "I just feel free with watercolor."
