There were plenty of things for people of all ages to do at the 33rd annual Parish Fiesta held Friday through Sunday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Road.
For adults, there was a live casino night. For kids, there was a play area with inflatables including slides and jumping castles. And for all ages there was a variety of food and other entertainment..
"This is a once-a-year event where parishioners, school families and the surrounding community come together in fellowship and worship," said festival chairwoman RJ Saavedra.
The parish hoped to raise more than $70,000 with the help of 300 volunteers. More than 3,000 people were expected to attend.
The fiesta is part fundraiser, part community event. After paying to put on the fiesta, any money raised goes toward things such as the grade school on the church campus.

"It's considered a fundraiser, but if we break even we are happy," Saavedra said. "We want to bring our congregation together for fun."
Debra Starr has attended 22 of the 33 fiestas.
"It's a great fundraiser, it's a great community builder and it's a nice place to bring kids," said Starr, who took her grandchildren to the fiesta. The kids were allowed to go to the event as long as they met a couple of conditions.
"You tell the kids, 'Hey, this is coming up - if you want it, you gotta get good grades, you gotta do this, you gotta do that,' " she said, smiling.
