The Foothills Philharmonic will be celebrating its 20th anniversary with a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium at Catalina Foothills High School, 4300 E. Sunrise Drive.
The Foothills Philharmonic is an all-volunteer, intergenerational orchestra. It was established by Catalina Foothills Community Schools in 1993 to provide an orchestral experience for students and adults.
One of its aims is to promote good will and understanding among generations, schools and the community.
The more than 80 Foothills Phil members include professional musicians, teachers, businesspeople, doctors, engineers, homemakers, students and more. Members' ages range from preteen to octogenarian.
The conductor is László Veres, who is widely known in Tucson as an educator, performer and conductor. He retired after 30 years from the Tucson Unified School District, where he was a high school band director. He was also the principal clarinetist with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra for 16 years.

Veres founded the Foothills Philharmonic Orchestra and has served as its musical director and conductor for 20 years. He also conducts the Arizona Symphonic Winds and the Tucson Pops.
Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger.
