Six-year-old Rhianna Boivie knows exactly what she'll do with the snow globe she made during Crafternoon at the Dusenberry-River Library last week.
A combination of decorated construction paper and a clear plastic plate encasing plastic "snow," the craft will serve a very important use to help her dad.
"When he's feeling hot, I'm gonna shake it in his face to cool him off," she said. "Because snow is cold."
Candy cane reindeer, crayon drawings, holiday cards and more were in full production Dec. 23 at the library, 5605 E. River Road.
Children ages 3 to 10 made crafts from 1 to 3 p.m., and from 3 to 5 p.m. the older kids got their chance.
The Crafternoon was the second of its kind hosted at the library, and young-adult librarian Kendra Davey said she hopes to make it annual.

"It seems very popular. We've had people ask for it again this year," she said.
The session's "make it, take it" approach allows the young crafters to take home whatever they create. The next young-adults program that Davey is organizing is today. It's a preliminary tournament round of the popular video game "Rock Band."
Several library branches are hosting similar events today. Children ages 10 to 18 are invited to test their skills from 2 to 5 p.m. Go online to www.library.pima.gov/locations/river for more information.
