St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church offers classes that teach hand-building with clay.
The Create and Rejuvenate with Clay classes are more than merely instruction in techniques, however. They are designed to provide an atmosphere in which participants can revitalize their creativity, boost their spirits, relax and be rejuvenated.
In the fully equipped pottery studio at St. Philip's, students engage in highly individualized, self-paced projects in an environment free of competition.
The environment is gentle, loving and accepting, and the step-by-step instruction is appropriate for beginners to advanced clay workers (17 and older), with an emphasis on mindfulness toward the pottery "process" and one another.
Morning and evening class series are offered, beginning in June and running through July: Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning June 1; Fridays, 9 a.m. to noon, beginning June 3; and Mondays, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning June 6 (no class July 4).
