Q: How long have you been in Tucson, and what brought you here?
A: My family brought me out to Tucson. My dad was an auto designer from Detroit and moved out here. I got my influences from my dad. I moved out from Michigan in 1984.
Q: How did you start?
A: I got started in kindergarten. My dad brought home art supplies and told us to use them. I never had crayons. I always used Prisma colored pencils. I always had good art supplies. I went to the Society of Arts and Crafts for a semester. I wanted to start doing my own thing. I would rather fall back on my talent than a degree. A degree doesn't make you an artist. You have to stay engaged and producing. You have to weather storms, whatever they may be. I try and come at it with a pure heart.

Q: Where do you get inspiration?
A: I get inspiration from God's creation. I am copying what he has produced and rearranging it in my way. I pray and I listen to my heart.
Q: What sets your work apart from other people in your medium?
A: I rarely look at other people's work. I have inspiration from all around. It allows me to stay engaged. I take critiques from my wife and my mom. I have a deep faith, and I like to have that expressed in the pieces. My customers get jazzed up. I like giving people inspiration through my creativity.
