Fire district donation request is a scam
Northwest Side residents should be aware of scam artists pretending to raise money for a local fire district.
Several residents have reported being called by people claiming to be Northwest Fire/Rescue District representatives.
The callers, who identify themselves as volunteer firefighters, ask for donations for the district.
Northwest doesn't call residents to ask for money, according to a news release.
