I loved Richard Kyte’s story about the power of kindness, whether in hunting or day to day life. (‘National opinion: Rudeness may be contagious, but kindness is communicable’ by Richard Kyte, Arizona Daily Star, Nov 17, 2024) The same can work in our communications with those who represent us in Congress. Starting with a positive: Congrats on your election, asking them to support another positive, like expanding the child tax credit to cut child poverty, or increasing SNAP in the next farm bill to beat hunger. Then of course we can follow up with a smile on our faces and positive reminders, remember both parties said they wanted to increase the child tax credit. Imagine the smiles civility and legislation providing ladders out of poverty can bring!
