Capping what had to be the longest three days of his life, Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright finally got drafted Saturday.
The Cleveland Browns took the former Wildcats All-America linebacker with the 250th selection – the fourth-to-last pick in the seventh and final round.
ESPN showed Wright sobbing at his parents’ home in Windsor, California, after he received the news. He later jumped over a fence and into their pool fully clothed – clearly relieved that the ordeal was over and he could start his NFL career.

Despite a season for the ages in 2014 - when he won multiple national awards and accumulated an absurd 29 tackles for losses, including 14 sacks – Wright struggled to gain traction with NFL teams.
Wright missed most of last season because of foot and knee injuries. After returning for the season-ending New Mexico Bowl and declaring for the draft, Wright had a disappointing performance at the NFL scouting combine, including a 4.9-second 40-yard dash. That only reaffirmed teams’ concerns about his ability to play in coverage.
The Browns are in a complete rebuilding mode with a new front office and coaching staff. No team will have more playing-time opportunities for young, hungry players than Cleveland.

Wright was the second and final Arizona player selected in the draft. The Denver Broncos took defensive back Will Parks in the sixth round.
