The Buffalo Bills finalized the addition of a key member of their coaching staff Friday.
Joe Brady was officially announced as the team's new quarterbacks coach, taking over the position that opened when Ken Dorsey was promoted earlier in the week to offensive coordinator. Dorsey replaced Brian Daboll, who left the Bills after four years to become head coach of the New York Giants.
Brady, 32, was fired in December as the Carolina Panthers' offensive coordinator after less than two full seasons on the job. A year ago, however, Brady interviewed for five vacant head-coaching jobs around the NFL – a sign of how he's viewed as a bright offensive mind.
Under Brady's guidance in the 2020 season, the Panthers became just the fifth team in the Super Bowl era with four players to produce at least 1,000 yards from scrimmage – D.J. Moore (1,215), Robby Anderson (1,111), Curtis Samuel (1,051) and Mike Davis (1,015). In 2019, Brady won the Broyles Award as college football's top assistant coach after working as LSU's wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator. He helped quarterback Joe Burrow and Co. to a perfect 15-0 record and a national championship.

Josh Allen and professional partner Keith Mitchell have some work to do if they hope to make the cut in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The pair shot a 5-under 67 Friday in the second round at Spyglass Hill and are at 9-under through 36 holes, in a tie for 66th place.
The format is net best ball of the partners. The pro and amateur each play every hole, and the score that is counted is the better one after the amateur’s handicap is factored in. Each amateur’s handicap is different, ranging from 0 (meaning they get no help) to 16 (which means they get one stroke on every hole except the two easiest on the course). Allen plays to a 9 handicap.
The tournament is played on three courses – Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Monterey Peninsula. Mitchell and Allen played Monterey Peninsula on Thursday and will play at Pebble Beach on Saturday. Mitchell shot a 4-under 68 Friday and is tied for 25th.
After Saturday's third round, which airs on Golf Channel from 1 to 3 p.m. and CBS from 3 to 7 p.m., the field cuts to the top 60 professionals and the top 25 pro-am teams for Sunday's final round at Pebble Beach.
