New Jersey high school football star Devin Fuller will visit the UA today and Wednesday as he debates whether to come west for college.
It’s a critical 48 hours for the Arizona Wildcats’ new coaching staff.
Perhaps no available recruit fits coach Rich Rodriguez’s system better than Fuller, who the Scout.com recruiting service lists as a four-star prospect and the nation’s third-best dual-threat quarterback. He threw for 2,247 yards and 20 touchdowns, and rushed for 1,326 yards and 17 TDs as a high school senior.
Fuller, a U.S. Army All-American, has offers from more than 20 schools. Most see him as a safety or wide receiver.
Nebraska, TCU, UCLA and Rutgers all hosted Fuller on official visits with promises of keeping him at quarterback. The Old Tappan High School senior decided Thursday to take one more trip, to Arizona, before making up his mind.

Fuller’s timing and the UA’s quarterback quandary could work in the Wildcats’ favor, said Brian Dohn, Scout.com’s East Coast recruiting analyst. Arizona has just one scholarship quarterback on its roster heading into spring drills; Fuller would almost certainly back up redshirt senior Matt Scott as a true freshman and inherit the starter’s job in 2013.
