TULSA, Okla. — Southern Hills Country Club is back on the major golf championship calendar.
On Tuesday, the PGA of America announced that the 2032 PGA Championship will be held at Tulsa’s Southern Hills.
“It’s a great opportunity for us,” Southern Hills president Brett Pratt said.
It will be Southern Hills’ ninth men’s major golf championship and sixth PGA — the most for any course.
“We could not be more excited to return to Southern Hills Country Club for the 114th PGA Championship in May 2032,” said PGA of America president Don Rea Jr. “Southern Hills and its incredible members as well as the entire Tulsa community have always welcomed the PGA of America, our PGA members and our major championships with authentic neighborly hospitality.
“We look forward to bringing the PGA Championship back to not only a first-class community, but a world renowned golf course that will challenge the world’s best golfers as they compete for the iconic Wanamaker Trophy.”

Since 1958 when Southern Hills hosted the U.S. Open, no U.S. course except Augusta National, home of The Masters, has been the site of more majors.
Being held in 2032 will check off several milestone boxes for Southern Hills as far as other majors it has hosted.
It will be the 50th anniversary of Raymond Floyd winning the 1982 PGA, the 25th anniversary of Tiger Woods capturing the 2007 PGA and the 10th anniversary of Justin Thomas prevailing in a playoff at the 2022 PGA.
Justin Thomas poses with the Wanamaker Trophy after winning the PGA Championship at Tulsa’s Southern Hills Country Club in 2022.
“That is pretty cool,” Pratt said.
Other PGA Championships were held at Southern Hills in 1970 and 1994. U.S. Opens were conducted there in 1958, 1977 and 2001.
During this decade, other notable national tournaments held at Southern Hills were the 2021 Senior PGA and the 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur.
With the tremendous economic success of the 2022 PGA and Southern Hills’ history of positive experiences with the PGA of America, it had been speculated over the past three years that Southern Hills would be a strong contender for an upcoming PGA. The 2032 event was the next open date.
“The city of Tulsa really supports their golf, that’s for sure,” Pratt said.
The PGA Championship’s return to Southern Hills also will keep the course on the forefront of the national golf consciousness when it comes to national rankings. Sometimes courses out of big-time media markets slip in the best course rankings when they go long periods without hosting a major.
“To continue to move up on these lists ... that’s important to us, certainly hosting major championships don’t hurt and any collegiate event or amateur event doesn’t hurt that,” Pratt said. “We don’t do that with that in mind, I don’t think it’s relevant to being one of the top clubs in the country but it doesn’t hurt anything at all when you’re hosting these major events so we’re honored to do that.”
