Sunny, the dog found hanging from a tree by her mouth, has been adopted and is going home with her new family tomorrow.
Since Sunny was found on May 12, multiple agencies have offered $6,000 in rewards for information about the person or persons responsible. Tucson-based Animal Defense Council is offering $1,000, PETA is offering $2,500 and 88-CRIME is offering up to $2,500.
Tucson Police contacted Pima Animal Care Center at about 8 a.m. on May 12 to assist in retrieving the dog, said PACC spokesman Kristin Barney.
Sunny, an adult female Shepherd mix, was seen by a vet shortly after arriving at the shelter. Her multiple injuries required intensive veterinary care, costing more than $1,500.
Her story gained national and international media coverage, which in turn prompted an outpouring of financial support for PACC– close to $25,000.

Sunny has been staying with a foster family and recovering in a quiet environment since she improved enough to not require constant veterinary monitoring.
Because no suspects have been identified in the case, her adoptive family wishes to remain anonymous.
Sunny’s new family will be at PACC Thursday to take her home.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
