Three men and one woman were injured in the crash landing of a plane in Nogales on Saturday, authorities said. They were airlifted to a Tucson hospital.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about 2 p.m. Saturday from a pilot who witnessed the accident, said Sheriff Tony Estrada.
The single-engine Cessna had taken off from Nogales International Airport when it had engine trouble and crashed into a small hillside about a half-mile north of the runway, said Fire Capt. Carlos T. Parra of the Nogales Suburban Fire District.
Crews from the fire district had to use Jaws of Life equipment to extricate the pilot and three passengers from the plane, Parra said. Â
The 57-year-old man piloting the plane sustained the most serious injuries, Estrada and Parra said. All four of the injured were airlifted to Banner - University Medical Center.

The Cessna's destination had been "a return to California," Estrada said, but neither he nor Parra knew where in that state. No other information was available. Â
