To the letter writer who “can’t stand it anymore how people refer to abortion as women’s health care.”
I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst that required the removal of my left ovary. At the same time, I also was suffering from an undiagnosed ectopic pregnancy which required the removal of the left fallopian tube. I was 23. Four years later, I was pregnant when, at 10 weeks, I had a miscarriage that required a D & C. These two conditions are not considered abortion, but in states with restrictive abortion laws, women have been denied care for these because of doctor’s fear of retribution. This is women’s health care.
As far as pregnancy choices being governed and late-term abortions: in a perfect world, women would have no pregnancy complications and all children would be born healthy, wanted and loved. This is not reality.
The bottom line is: Keep abortion legal, safe and accessible.
