Letter: Protect Education Act

Elimination of waste, fraud and abuse has been a rallying cry for the Arizona GOP Legislature’s majority and the MAGA base. Yet, at the behest of GOP gubernatorial candidate Andy Biggs, House Speaker Steve Montenegro and Senate President Warren Petersen are doing everything in their power to perpetuate the current broken Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESA) system - program that has ballooned in cost to over $1 billion a year of taxpayer dollars. The Protect Education Act Initiative provides much needed reforms to the ESA program and reins in the GOP’s efforts to starve public education of adequate funding. Don’t fall for the GOP leadership’s gimmick referrals to the November ballot - they are a cynical and desperate attempt to obfuscate the issue not fix it. Support the Save Education Act Initiative.
