To paraphrase David French in his NYT 1/27 column, “When power is worshiped, compassion, kindness and forgiveness are sins.”
Sadly, this is where we’re at today in our politics.
Incredulous front-pew worshippers at the National Prayer Services last week, and their minions, shook their collective powerful heads in unison in response to the Rector’s humble suggestion that an elected leader might acknowledge that some of his constituents were scared that his threats would hurt them.
How dare she preach the Word?
How dare she beseech his compassion from her pulpit at the National Cathedral?
Has she no shame?
