Tucson closer Emiliano Fruto allowed a run in the bottom of the ninth Wednesday but got a strikeout to end the game with the bases loaded as the Toros beat host St. George 9-5.
The RoadRunners filled the bases with a walk, hit batter and third-strike wild pitch. Another walk made the score 9-5 before Scott Clement struck out to end the game.

Marlins fire skipper
BALTIMORE - Fredi Gonzalez was fired Wednesday as manager of the Florida Marlins, whose search for a full-time successor began with a phone call to Bobby Valentine.
Gonzalez was dismissed with Florida at 34-36 and in fourth place in the NL East.
Valentine's agent informed the Orioles Wednesday that his client was no longer a candidate for their opening.

US team elevated to 3rd
Members of the U.S. women's gymnastics team at the 2000 Olympics will receive their bronze medals at a ceremony in August after being elevated to third place when a Chinese gymnast was disqualified for being underage.
Earlier this year, the International Olympic Committee stripped China of the medal after an investigation that found Dong Fangxiao was only 14 at the Sydney Games.
