The Tucson Hispanic Chamber Foundation has awarded 20 scholarships to local students in Southern Arizona.
The scholarships, worth $1,000 each, are awarded based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, financial need and student essays.
The recipients, who were selected from more than 200 applicants, will be attending the University of Arizona, Pima Community College and Cochise College.
They are:
• Peggy Alanis of Luz Academy of Tucson.
• Danilo Andrade, Dario Andrade, Alyssa Rosales, Maria Uribe and Rochelle Rocha of Tucson High Magnet School.
• Kevin Arreaga of Sahuarita High School.
• Jennifer Carpio of Lourdes Catholic School.
